As part of our SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural) calendar at Crookhey Hall School, we celebrated the invaluable role of volunteers in everyday life. This initiative allowed our pupils to reflect deeply on the significant contributions that volunteers make to our community. They learned about the essential roles that charity and compassion play in supporting those in need and understood the ethical importance of giving back. During this event, our pupils worked as a team, collaborating closely with both staff and volunteers, which enhanced their communication and teamwork skills. They observed first hand how communities engage and unite through volunteer efforts, witnessing the profound impact that collective action can have on societal welfare. This experience was not just theoretical, it provided our pupils with a comprehensive, real-world understanding of how individual efforts can drive communal harmony and support. By interacting and seeing the direct benefits of volunteer work, our pupils gained empathy and a broader perspective on their community. This celebration of volunteers not only met key SMSC objectives but also equipped our pupils with valuable life lessons. Below are some of the cards made by pupils and a thank you gift being delivered to the volunteers at Lancaster & District homeless action service.
