Beyond the Classroom

The curriculum is complemented by a variety of trips and activities out of school to encourage and build on learning in the classroom and develop social skills.

While striving to provide National Curriculum entitlement to all the children in our care, the nature and extent of individual difficulties may preclude access to certain areas of the curriculum at specific times. Subjects may simply be inappropriate in respect of ability and future aspirations, and some pupils may need a bespoke timetable of lessons to meet their needs, built on interests and abilities.

Where possible, educational programmes are firmly rooted in the practical. We provide vocational courses utilising external providers for both basic and advanced courses in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair and our own well developed vocational facilities.

To complement the vocational education, Crookhey Hall School has a well-developed commitment to work-related learning for those boys who have the maturity and desire to succeed. Work placements are carefully vetted and risk-assessed and pupils undergo pre-placement visits to ensure a smooth transition and successful work experience.
